Syn.: Phaeolus spadiceus
English names: Pine Dye Polypore, Velvet-top Fungus,
Cowpie Fungus, Dyer's Mazegill, Large Pine Polypore
Deutsche Name: Kiefern-Braunporling

This fungus can be up 30 cm wide, and it has a very short stipe. Spore powder is white to straw-colored. Usually a single or few fungi grow at the base of a pine or a larch trunk from July to September. It grows in parks, forests and avenues. It is rare in Latvia. Inedible.

Reti sastopama lielu izmēru neēdama (lai arī pamīksta) piepe, kas aug uz priežu un lapegļu pamatnēm.

This fungus can take a great variety of shapes. With age fruit-bodies tend to turn greenish (as on the bottom image).
Šīm piepēm forma mēdz būt visai daudzveidīga. Novecojot augļķermeņi mēdz iekrāsoties zaļganīgi (kā apakšējā attēlā).
